Because Finding Work is Hard Work!
Market My Career was born out of an idea – a passion really – to deliver smart, practical and affordable information to help job seekers find a job that brings them joy. Real joy!
If you’re here with us then odds are you do not have a money tree growing in your back yard or the winning lottery ticket in your wallet. You’re not an heiress or a trust fund baby and like billions of people around the globe you actually have to work for a living. But just because you have to work doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it.
That’s where we come in. In our combined thirty years as job seekers, hiring managers, marketers, career coaches, social networking strategists, resume writers and personal brand builders we have developed an enormous body of knowledge proven to help people in all stages of their career take their game up a notch.
Whether you’re fresh out of college or a seasoned professional, you’ll find information, guides, tips and tools to help you:
- Raise your visibility among recruiters and hiring managers
- Learn techniques for uncovering hidden job leads
- Build a powerful personal brand
- Create job search tools that really sell your strong suits
- Increase your return on your networking investment
And so much more!
We’ve been there: Looking for work is hard work! It’s taxing, draining and at times demoralizing. We’re here to cheer you up. To inspire you. To give you every ounce of information we have gleaned over the years and propel you forward in your career. Consider us your personal partners in your career climb!
Sima Dahl
I’m a recovered job seeker turned business owner with a passion for helping people craft their unique story, build a powerful network and catapult their career to new heights.
When I’m not creating content for Market My Career I run Parlay Communications, a boutique agency focused on helping B2B and professional service businesses build a brand and generate leads. We offer consulting, sales team training and workshops.
I am perhaps best known for the Sway Factor™ system – my proven three-step process for social networking success and have a book by the same name due out later this year. I am a high-energy keynote speaker and teach social media for the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. I also write a monthly career column for the American Marketing Association and bylined articles in Marketing News and Social Media Marketer magazines.
When it comes to finding a job, I believe in three simple facts:
- No one single blunder can eliminate you from the job you were meant to have.
- No single search strategy is better than any other; finding a job requires an integrated approach.
- Job Karma matters. Help someone else and it will come back to you.

I’m a career detective helping people uncover and capture jobs that seem elusive. My passion is helping people answer the question “what do I want to be when I grow up?” and walking beside them as they go after their dream job!
My “day job” is running Weeks Career Services, Inc. where my team specializes in providing coaching, career marketing documents (resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, etc.), and outplacement services to association executives.
As a frequent contributor to career books, I am the author of the upcoming book I Want to Work in an Association — Now What?? A Guide to Getting a Job in a Professional Association, Membership Organization, or Society and a featured author in 101 Ways to Enhance Your Career. I also serve as President of The National Resume Writers’ Association and am a certified career coach and dual-certified resume writer.
From my experience, I’ve found that the least job seekers need to know is:
- There ARE jobs out there – the key is finding them!
- Don’t give up on your dreams – you’d be amazed how many people have made major career transitions or gotten hired after someone told them “it can’t be done.”
- The only thing constant is change – the career landscape is different from even 5 years ago.
